Formation of the Lower Assam Railway Labour Union Committee

The newly formed the Lower Assam Railway Labour Union is committed to advocating for the rights of railway workers across the region. Under the leadership of President Rashidul Hoque, Vice President Saddam Hussain, and General Secretary Vinod Sharma, the union aims to secure fair wages, better working conditions, and comprehensive benefits for laborers.

The members of the committee of the Lower Assam Railway Labour Union are:
  • President: Rashidul Hoque
  • Vice President: Saddam Hussain
  • General Secretary (GS): Vinod Sharma
  • Other Members: (Others 15 members)

This union aims to work collectively for the improvement of the railway laborers and to protect their rights in the Lower Assam region. The committee will actively collaborate with the authorities and the media to ensure that our goals are transparent and reach the public.


After formation of the committee, following demands have been raised:

1. If any labour gets injured while on duty and becomes permanently or partially disabled, they should receive accident benefits of ₹5,00,000.

2. Labours should receive pension benefits after retirement at the age of 60. The Provident Fund (PF) should be designed to provide enough funds after retirement through combined contributions from labours.

3. Labours should receive accommodation benefits, including a house or building worth up to ₹10,00,000.

4. The wage/salary should be fixed at 45,000 per month.

5. In the case of natural death, a death benefit of ₹3,00,000 should be provided to each labours.

6. Labours should receive a free railway pass of 150 KM per day.

7. Education allowance or free education for the children of labours should be provided.

8. Workers and their family members should be provided with a health card for free medical treatment. Special provisions should be made for specially- abled persons.

9. There should be a quota for specially-abled persons.

10. For casual workers, wages should be fixed at 15 per bag.

11. There should be a yearly bonus provision for workers.

12. Installation of CCTV cameras in the workplace should be ensured for safety.

13. The workplace should be well-lit.

14. Sufficient drinking water with proper facilities should be maintained at the workplace.

15. Fire extinguishers covering large areas should be installed at the workplace.

16. Clean toilets and restrooms should be provided for workers.

17. Medical facilities, including first aid, should be available at every workplace with immediate support from medical staff.

18. Accidental death benefits of ₹10,00,000 should be provided if a worker dies while on duty.

19. Service identity cards with QR codes should be issued to labours by the railway.

20. There should be a proper dress code for workers issued by the railway authority.

21. If a worker passes away, their spouse should receive the worker's benefits.
