3rd Bongaigaon Kite Festival to be held on January 14 at Immersion Ghat , Rules & Regulations

The Immersion Ghat in Bongaigaon is all set to host the 3rd Annual Kite Festival on 14th January 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of kite flying, creativity, and friendly competition, attracting participants and spectators from across the region.

The event will feature a thrilling Kite Fight Competition, where groups will showcase their skills in manoeuvring kites to out-fly and outmanoeuvre their opponents. Spectators can expect to witness exciting aerial duels as participants engage in kite battles to showcase their kite flying prowess.

In addition to the Kite Fight Competition, there will also be a Best Creative Kite Competition, inviting individuals to showcase their artistic skills by designing and displaying their unique kites. Participants will have the opportunity to display their creativity and innovation, with prizes awarded for the most visually stunning and creatively designed kites.

The 3rd Annual Kite Festival aims to promote the traditional art of kite flying while providing a platform for enthusiasts to come together and celebrate their passion for this age-old pastime. The event promises to be a fun-filled day for families and kite enthusiasts of all ages, offering a unique blend of tradition, creativity, and friendly competition.

Rules and Regulations for Best Decorative kite

1. Each participant can participate with only 1 kite.
2. Judges will decide on the Best Decorative kite and the second best.
3. Minimalistic use of plastic will be given preferential points.
4. Kite’s decoration should be theme-based and the participants must explain in brief their ideas behind the theme.
5. The organisers may exhibit the received kites.
6. Participants should mention their name, address and contact number in a slip pasted with the kite.
7. A register will be maintained and a number will be allotted for each received kite.
8. Winner will receive a trophy and cash prize. Runner-up will also receive a trophy and cash prize.
9. The received kites won’t be returned to the participants.
10. The judges' decision would be considered final.

Rules and Regulations For Kite Fight

1. Total at max 45 teams.
2. Registration on or before 12th of January 2025, noon.

4. 2 Kites for the competition will be provided by the organisers.
5. Manjha (kite string) - only the form of "maidani manjha" is allowed (patla toun), for the competition.
6. No, Chinese or panda manjha (flying-thread) allowed.
7. MoomSuta (white normal cotton thread) can be used for manjha extension.
8. Each team should have a name and must have 3 players.
9. Each round of competition will be conducted among more than 5 teams
10. There should be one captain for each team.
11. Fast pulling technique only to be implemented (Sarasari/tanatanipench)
12. The team should bring their own Natai/ Latai/ charkhi for the competition.
13. Damaged kites can be replaced only before commencement of the kite fight and not after the fight starts.
14. Snapped kite threads under any circumstances will be considered as disqualified.
15. The competition will begin from 10:00 am sharp.
16. Teams not reporting on time will be disqualified.
17. There will be Trophy and a Cash Prize for winner and runners up.
18. There will be no registration fees or charges.
19. There will be 5 members in the Judges’ Panel.
20. Judges and organisers decision will be considered final and all participants should abide by that.
